Editorial Standards & Corrections

How we source stories

Our stories begin with reporting by established Nigerian and international outlets. We always name that outlet in a “Source” line at the top of the story and link to the original report. We never present another outlet's reporting as our own.

How we write and check

We are open about our process. Stories are drafted with the help of AI, in our own words, from the named source report. Before anything is published:

  1. Every sentence of the headline, key fact, article and social caption is checked against the source report.
  2. Any line the source does not clearly support is rewritten or removed. If a core claim cannot be supported, the story is not published.
  3. Numbers, names and dates are kept exactly as the source gives them.
  4. We do not add opinion, rumour or speculation to news stories.

Pictures

Our pictures are AI-generated editorial illustrations, not photographs of real events or real people, and we label them as such.

Independence from advertising

Advertising is placed separately from our stories. Ads are always labelled “Advertisement”, never appear between a headline and its main picture, and advertisers have no say over what we cover. Any sponsored content will be clearly labelled “Sponsored”.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and say so. Corrected stories carry a note explaining what changed and when. Small typos are fixed without a note.
