Nigeria is facing several security challenges including kidnapping and attacks on communities. The government is working to address these challenges and has received support from the international community.

The defence assistance from the EU is expected to help the military in its efforts to improve security in the country. The assistance will be delivered through a technical delegation that will visit Abuja in November.

The delegation will agree on the modalities for the delivery of the assistance. The EU has commended the Nigerian government for its efforts to improve security and has invited the Minister of Defence to a meeting of defence ministers in Brussels.

The meeting will discuss regional security issues and the role of the Multinational Joint Task Force in addressing these issues.
